Dylan Evoy Gets Third Place Finish at Mohawk Raceway Opener; Battles Back From Early Adversity for Top Ten Finish at Brockville Craig
Revelle – Finish Line Web Design May 16, 2012
Evoy,
the reigning Sportsman champion at Mohawk Raceway with nine feature wins in 2011
started the night off strong. By virtue of a draw upon entering the track,
Evoy started his qualifying heat race from the front row, and cruised to
victory, leading all eight laps and going virtually unchallenged. In the
20 lap main event, Evoy started from the front row, and battled for the lead on
lap one before settling into second place. Evoy maintained that spot
through the first half of the race, before falling to third. He maintained
that position through the end of the event. “It
wasn’t a bad run, but the car just got too tight, especially in the second
half of the race”, says Evoy. “It was good to get back into the
regular routine, and I look forward to racing here again this year and trying to
defend our title”. At
Brockville Speedway on Saturday night, Evoy started his qualifying heat from
seventh place, and patiently worked his way forward. He had advanced to
third place as the checkered flag was being displayed, but a driveline issue
sent Evoy’s car scurrying to the infield, and unable to cross the finish line.
After getting the problems fixed, Evoy started the 25 lap main event from the
back of the pack. Evoy struggled early, and made his way into the top ten
as the final laps counted down. He was credited with a tenth place run. “It
was certainly not the night we were looking for. We had a lot of damage in
the driveline and had to replace the transmission. I've got to thank my
crew for all their hard work in getting things fixed just in time for the
feature. With all the work to fix the transmission we didn't have time to work
on set-up. The car just didn’t perform as well as we had hoped, and after the
problems we had in the heat race, we were so far back in the pack, and it was
just tough to pass”. Dylan
and the Evoy Racing team will be back at Mohawk International Raceway this
coming Friday night, and Brockville Speedway on Saturday night with a 40 lap
main event as round one of the St. Lawrence Sportsman Championship Series takes
place. Evoy
Racing would like to thank Ogilvie’s Auto & Fleet Service, 1000 Islands RV
